Amaranth is the grain of the future. It has a far higher protein content than common grain-crops (about 19%) like corn or wheat and it grows faster.
It is valuable both as a grain for human consumption and animal feed (pigs, cows, hens, rabbits and freshwater fish). Expect healthier animals than with other grain feeds. The leaves are also tender and edible. The protein is far more complete than that from most plant sources. The leaves contain high levels of micronutrients.
Sow in late April to mid-September by scattering the seeds and then scattering a casing layer of sand or manure. Alternatively use the 'seed ball' method.
Amaranth can yield 3 crops a year, each taking about 100 days to mature.

This package contains 500g of seed. As a rough guide, there are about 900 seeds per gram.
