The goji berry is a sweet berry from a perennial shrub. The berries have been valued as a delicacy for centuries, and more recently have received considerable hype for their nutrient properties. They may have preventive medicinal virtues - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfberry#Preliminary_medical_research.
They are often consumed dry as a snack, and occasionally used to flavour coffee and wine.
The plant grows best in warm temperatures in well-drained alkaline soils. The plants bear fruit from July until October.
